Penhalluriack’s is one of very few independently owned stores that combines a garden centre, hardware, paint shop, and a timber and builders’ yard spread over half a hectare. You venture from one exciting area to another. Potential solutions to meet your individual needs for house and garden.
Frank Penhalluriack
You wouldn’t expect to find someone like Frank running a hardware shop. Pushing 80, and rather short and wrinkly with thinning grey hair, he has a Batchelor of Building together with a smattering of other relevant nominals, and he is a good educator and judge of his fellow humans. Even though he is relaxed and semi-retired he has selected a great team to advise in the garden, building, timber, paint and general hardware departments. He has never traded as a limited liability company, saying a handshake was always good enough.
Frank insists that buying and sales belong together so that product knowledge and expert advice is always available at the best price. And, of course, experience is important. Frank started Pen’s at 345 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield over forty years ago. It has become a Caulfield icon, and Frank promises it’s here to stay.
